Using her experience as a bestselling author and as a marketing manager and buyer in the book trade, Sarah will share what she has learned about writing popular fiction over the past twelve years.

This one-day course will cover motivation, breathing life into your characters, plotting, point of view, dialogue, research, rewriting and editing. You will learn the secret of writing popular fiction that sells, and discover why Marian Keyes, Maeve Binchy and many other writers have become so internationally successful in the genre.

You will find out how to write the kind of proposal that will land you a top agent, and what agents and publishers are currently looking for.

Suitable for anyone interested in writing popular fiction, from beginners to more experienced writers.

Please bring pen and paper and a list of your favourite books (and be prepared to talk about why you like them).

Sarah Webb has written nine bestselling novels including "Always the Bridesmaid", "Anything for Love", and "The Loving Kind." Her books have been published in many different countries including the U.S. and Indonesia. She has also written many children"s books, has contributed short stories to several collections including "Moments", and has compiled and edited two charity collections of her own, "Travelling Light" and "Mum"s the Word". 

She writes a hugely popular series for readers of age 10+, Ask Amy Green. The first two books in the series, Ask Amy Green: Boy Trouble, and Ask Amy Green: Summer Secrets have been published, and Ask Amy Green: Bridesmaid Blitz will be published in October 2010. Boy Trouble is available in Polish and will be published in the U.S. in October 2010. 

After studying Arts in Trinity College, Dublin, Sarah worked in the book trade for many years as a Children"s Buyer. She now combines writing with schools visits, talking and giving workshops at festivals, and reviewing children"s books for the Irish Independent. She has also programmed and run many successful readers" days, and is on the board of Children"s Books Ireland.
