Prose Reading: Anthony Glavin and Ciaràn Folan

In celebration of prose writing, the Irish Writers' Centre is pleased to announce a series of free readings, highlighting the work of published authors. To start the series, Anthony Glavin and Ciaràn Folan will be reading their respective works and will be introduced by the Irish Writers' Centre Chairman, Jack Harte. |

Anthony Glavin served as editor of ‘New Irish Writing’ in the Irish Press from 1987-88 and since 1994, has served as a Commissioning Editor for New Island Books. Author of an acclaimed first novel, Nighthawk Alley, and two short-story collections, One for Sorrow and The Draughtsman and The Unicorn, his stories have been anthologised in Phoenix Irish Short Stories, Best Irish Short Stories, Short Story International, New Dubliners: Stories to Celebrate 100 Years of Joyce’s Dubliners, and The Faber Book of Irish Short Stories 2006/7. |

Ciaràn Folan was born in Newtowncashel, Co Longford. His story collection Freak Nights was published by New Island in 1996.His writing has been featured in New Irish Writing (Irish Press), Sunday Tribune, London Magazine and a number of anthologies. He won the RTÉ Francis MacManus Short Story Competition twice, once in 1987 and then in 2009. He has also won numerous awards and bursaries from the Arts Council Bursary, the Dublin City Council and Galway County Council. |
