Friday 19th March: 6.30-9.30pm

The students from Paula Meehan’s Making Poems workshop, in conjunction with the Irish Writers Centre, are delighted to announce a fundraising evening in support of the Irish Writers’ Centre on Friday 19th March at 6.30pm at The National Gallery on Merrion Square.

The evening will begin with a wine reception in the magnificent Baroque Room, with a chance for people to explore the paintings at leisure, before a welcome address from Jack Harte, Chairman of the Irish Writers’ Centre.

Pianist Tara Clifford will then perform pieces by Ravel, Debussy, Takemitsu and Szymanowski in the magnificent Shaw Room, while poets from Paula Meehan’s Making Poems workshop at the Writers’ Centre will read their poems. There will be musical accompaniment throughout the evening from musician Sarah O’Reilly.

6.30-7.30pm    Wine reception in the Baroque Room, including tour of the paintings
7.30-7.40pm    Welcome address from Jack Harte, IWC Chairman, in the Shaw Room
7.40-8.05pm    Piano recital from Tara Clifford:

8.05-8.30pm    Poetry Readings from students from Paula Meehan’s Making Poems workshop
8.30-8.55pm    Piano Recital from Tara Clifford:

8.55-9.20pm    Final poetry reading from the students of Making Poems
9.30pm           Finish
